An officer who had defussed almost 100 devices in Afghanistan and Iraq has been dismissed from the army after admitting to PTSD in a medical review. Although Major Wayne Owers, 46 was improving with the condition, he was medically discharged with a £6,000 payout. Major Owers served 27 years in the army and was hoping to continue serving in a less operational environment as other soldiers have previously done.
