What a sad report this really is. 100 years after the end of the First World War and pride in our Armed Forces has diminished so much that individuals actually find it fun to desicrate memorials to our fallen.
A report today by St Helens Star shows the disgraceful vandalism to the ‘Silent Soldier’. This comes just over a week after we reported on individuals urinating on a war memorial in Plymouth.
The ‘Silent Soldier’ memorial pieces have been subject to attack by mindless idiots since their release earlier this year. Many have been stolen with local councils unneccesarily having to put up rewards for their return.
My big question here is ‘WHY?’
Why destroy these commemorations? I cannot imagine a reason. These are not political symbols, they simply remember our brave fallen. Has the UK really forgotten why these people fought and died?
This weekend marks the 78th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Only 8 of ‘The Few’ remain. Should they really live out their remaining days knowing that the country they sacrificied so much for has now decided to let them know they did it for nothing by these awful acts?
Help me out here folks, is British pride in our Armed Forces dying?
