A 39 year old man over the attempted murder and aggrivated burglary of D-Day veteran, Jim Booth, 96, last Wednesday afternoon. Mr Booth was taken to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries to his head and body following a vicious ‘claw hammer’ attack by Joseph Isaacs, a 39 year old homeless man at the home of Mr Booth at Gipsy Lane, Taunton, Somerset. Issacs, of no fixed address appeared at Taunton Magistrates Court where he spoke only to confirm his name. He was remanded in custody and will next appear in court on 22nd December. The court heard in relation to the burglary charge, Mr Isaacs was accused of stealing a NatWest debit card and a Santander cheque, and of having a claw hammer with him.
