What a start to the new season last night! The 25 recruits were driven high into the Andes for the start of Series 4 with Ant, Foxy, Ollie and Billy controlling the events facing our newcomers.
Almost immediately, the new team faced a challenge of jumping into a freezing river and to answer simple questions while trying to calm their reactions to the icy water. With everyone getting through, the recruits were given a chance to dry off and get into warm kit in relative comfort. Unfortunately, the opportunity was not taken advantage of by a few ending in Chief Instructor Ant explaining the error of their ways in no uncertain terms.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. The first of our recruits, No: 15, Qashif, departed after an issue with the ablution arrangements, followed shortly by No: 8, Sharissa who suffered breathing difficulties in the high altitude and finally, No: 12, Kat who struggled with the physical side. I have to say though, despite the fact they voluntarily withdrew, all cudos to them for having the courage to give it a go. Well done folks!
My big juicy moment came when No:9, Petra was led into the hut for questionning. Shock and horror, it turns out our Petra is ex-Swedish Special Forces and is a plant to keep an eye on things and feed intel to the guys. (Brilliant!). During the first episode, after the revelation, I wondered how long it would be before anyone clocked on. I must admit, she was doing an excellent job motivating other recruits but will that be her downfall?
So, we are down to 22 going into the next episode. Make sure you tune in next Sunday, Channel 4, 9:00pm for the next instalment. You can also catch up on episode 1 on 4 on Demand
