From the word go, our 22 remaining recruits were thrown into a very demanding world in the second installment of SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The rock climb and forward descent was the first test this evening with all recruits completing the excercise but the last to go, no:13 decided to mess about and take things as a joke causing the DS to punish the entire squad.
I must admit I had a little psychological lung burn watching the guys running up and down the hil with a variety of loads including themselves. I was so sorry to see No:1 Nadine pulling out at this point. It appeared that the breathing dificulties she was having in episode 1 finally took their toll. Well done for battling on though.
The second exercise was the log/tyre run. A gruelling hill climb where no:13 and no:20 were chosen to be team leaders. Both out of their comfort zones and both feeling the pressure. No:13’s team was the first to reach the top but no:20 had issues with another member of her team taking over the leadership role. During this part we lost our second recruit, No:19 Julie after hyperventilating at the end of the run. Again, well done for a massive effort.
The recruits third challenge was the ‘Milling’. Boxing gloves and guards donned and a brief bout with a team mate. Hats off to No:21 Louise for picking No:16 Nathaniel. This was a real test of character for both. This was brought home when Nathaniel was taken before the DS for a chat. A real test of guts for all of them.
One thing I am personally seeing is the pure strength in all of these individuals. Pass or fail. as Ant says, it takes balls just to walk through the gates of their camp. I also have to say hats off to all of the DS for their support and encouragement despite their job of putting the contestants through their paces.
At the end of the programme, two were eliminated by the staff. No:13 and No:11 (didn’t see that one coming). 18 remain.
Episode 3 is next Sunday, Channel 4, 9:00pm. Don’t miss it!!
