Ant Middleton, the former special forces serviceman and Chief Instructor for Channel 4’s hit show ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’, is helping Plymouth veterans adapt to life on civvy street.
Ant joined the Special Boat Service (SBS) – the UK’s naval special forces unit and the sister unit of the SAS – in 2008, and is now an ambassador for SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity.
SSAFA is the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity supporting veteran and their families with specialist services as well as practical, emotional and financial support.
SSAFA holds a close bond with Ant as they have personally helped him and his family in the past.
Explaining why he accepted the role, Ant said: “I’m really excited about becoming a SSAFA Ambassador. I know from personal experience, the difficulties that befall many of our serving and ex-serving men and women and I’ll do all I can to raise awareness of their issues and help those I’ve stood shoulder-to shoulder with.”
He told Plymouth Live: “As a proud Ambassador for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and a veteran myself, I’d like to tell you about a fund I’ve set up with the charity to ensure that veterans in Plymouth get the support they need.
