Could you Walk A Mile In Their Shoes? Of course not, no one could. Thousands of Veterans in the UK are currently suffering with Operational Traumatic Injuries such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and many more mental health illnesses. In some extreme cases, the veteran can no longer stand the constant flashbacks and nightmares of the horrors that they have experiences and, sadly, take their own lives. Unfortunately, this year we are seeing more and more young men and women ending up this way.
Despite the efforts of the many charities and agencies, veterans can find it hard to get the help they need. Often, it is because they simply don’t know where to go.
The Sandbag Times, Tommy Atkins Centre and the NHS have teamed up to ensure these heroes get the help they deserve but they need your help to do it.
They are simply asking you to walk a mile or more (preferably more) if possible in military style boots to metaphorically walk a mile in their shoes (WAMITS). We ask you to post it online using facebook, twitter, linkedin, instagram or any other social media platform using video, photos etc for a charity or agency close to you to let veterans know where their local help is. Also please feel free to use the logo to add to your photos or videos. There is also an OP WAMITS facebook frame for your FB profile pics to show your support. Please, please help us to get the message to veterans to prevent any further needless tragedies.
Let’s all ‘Walk A Mile In Their Shoes’ and show them the way to the help that they need. Thank you
