If ever there was a day when you didn’t want it to rain, then yesterday was that day. Knockhill circuit was close to issuing shipping forecasts on one of the corners. But alas, it did rain and our lads had to endure the conditions on what was, a prodominantly, rear wheel drive circuit. Saying that, our young rookie Dan Cammish kind of gave a lesson in how to drive a front wheel car in the wet bagging two podiums (although one was adjusted after Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram had their sec0nd race places taken off them for ride height infringments). Remembering his amazing pole lap on Saturday, he didn’t have a bad weekend and the tally of points now brings him back into the top ten.
Matt, on the otherhand had an awful day after being encouraged off the circuit in race one which meant he was playing catch up for the rest of the day. Although he progressed himself up to 15th by the last race, his placings in the title race took a full on right hook, putting him back to 9th.
Still, two more events left, Silverstone in three weeks and then Brands. I was at Silverstone last year when Matt grabbed a fantastic final race victory (Mind you, I still believe I blessed the car by ripping my jeans getting into it earlier that day when we visited Matt). Lets hope for more of the same to get Matt and Dan as far up the table as possible.
